A new power development plan being rolled out in Indonesia is set to underpin an increase in domestic gas demand over the next five years, with gas-fired facilities expected to account for nearly 40% of Indonesia’s intended power plant build-out.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources launched the government’s new power development plan in the Javan city of Yogyakarta last week. It targets an additional 35 GW of power generation capacity by 2019.
