Reserves

Angola has the second-largest gas reserves in sub-Saharan Africa behind Nigeria. It has significant potential to become a major gas producer, but lacks the political will to make it happen. Reserves are expected to increase as exploration activities are underway. Drilling in Angola’s pre-salt formation has created a buzz in the industry. The similarities between Angola’s and Brazil’s pre-salt formations will be tested through drilling, but if they prove similar it is possible Angola could expand its reserves.
