Ghana’s plan to start importing LNG to boost power supplies before the country’s general election in November is looking increasingly unlikely to succeed, sources have told Interfax Natural Gas Daily.
A project proposed by West Africa Gas Ltd. (WAGL) – a 60/40 joint venture between Nigeria National Petroleum Corp. and Sahara Energy Resources – to import LNG at the Ghanaian port of Tema via Golar LNG’s Tundra FSRU will not begin operations in a month’s time as originally planned. No significant work has been started at the port to accommodate the vessel, Interfax Natural Gas Daily has learned.
