European shale: not now, maybe later

A few years ago, the environmental risks of fracking dominated media headlines and anti-fracking demonstrations were common across Europe. But a combination of disappointing drilling results and lower oil and gas prices has resulted in less exploration, along with less media attention.

"It only seems like yesterday that sites were being identified up and down the land, fracking was dominating media headlines and public opinion was so divided," FTI Consulting said in a new report, Shale gas hasn’t gone away, which was released in April.
