Qatar retained the top position among LNG exporters in 2015 by exporting 77.2 mt of the fuel – a 2.1% increase on an annual basis. However, the competitiveness of Qatari LNG is not guaranteed in the coming years as new projects in the United States and Australia come online.

Qatar is planning to meet this challenge by offering flexible supply contracts as well as taking stakes in liquefaction and regasification facilities worldwide.
