Further delays to the giant Ichthys LNG project would be difficult for its developer Inpex, analysts have warned, following the company’s announcement this week that it faces hefty impairment charges for the 2016 fiscal year.

Inpex has shown it is not immune to the fall in global crude oil prices, despite its position as Japan’s largest oil and gas group and its leading role in securing the country’s long-term gas needs via Ichthys, which is under construction in Australia.
