March 2014 highlights

  • Planned maintenance work at LNG export plants in Algeria, Qatar, Angola and Yemen in the coming months will add to supply constraints
  • Growing domestic demand for gas and falling production in Algeria and Egypt are limiting LNG export volumes from North Africa
  • GCC countries such as the UAE and Kuwait will increase their reliance on imported LNG, increasing competition to secure additional spot cargoes
  • Turkey is expected to take more LNG volumes from the spot market in 2014 as supplies from Algeria decline and little progress is made in increasing gas imports from Iran
