March 2014 highlights
- Planned maintenance work at LNG export plants in Algeria, Qatar, Angola and Yemen in the coming months will add to supply constraints
- Growing domestic demand for gas and falling production in Algeria and Egypt are limiting LNG export volumes from North Africa
- GCC countries such as the UAE and Kuwait will increase their reliance on imported LNG, increasing competition to secure additional spot cargoes
- Turkey is expected to take more LNG volumes from the spot market in 2014 as supplies from Algeria decline and little progress is made in increasing gas imports from Iran
