The prelude to FLNG
Shell's Prelude floating LNG plant was more than a decade in the making even more the company reached an FID in May 2011, with some 1.5 million man-hours spent on the engineering challenges of liquefying 5.3 mt of liquids 200 km off Australia's northwest coast. The project is now well under construction at a shipyard in South Korea, and expected to start up in 2017 and operate in that location for 25 years.
