Statoil wins Indonesian offshore exploration licence

Norway’s Statoil has been awarded an exploration licence offshore Indonesia, the company announced on Wednesday.

The Aru Trough I licence covers around 830,000 hectares and is close to the company’s exploration acreage in the Aru and West Papua IV licences. The permit offers low-cost access to an area with strong potential, said Erling Vågnes, Statoil’s senior vice president for exploration in the eastern hemisphere.
