Gazprom’s export monopoly could be under threat

The Russian government reaffirmed its support for Gazprom’s monopoly on gas exports earlier this week, but change could be on the way, analysts say.

Russia’s gas exports should be delivered through a single channel, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said. He was responding to the latest proposal from Novatek to export production by Arktikgaz, its joint venture with Gazprom, through an agent agreement with Gazprom Export.
