Japan’s utilities prep for liberalised power market

Japan’s regional utilities are eager to bring their nuclear power plants back online to reduce costs before the country’s forthcoming power market liberalisation drive.

Japan plans to completely deregulate its gas and power sectors by 2020 and is set to begin by introducing competition in the retail power sector in April 2016.
