Growing LNG supply a boon for shipping – brokers

Shipbrokers anticipate the dramatic rise in global LNG supplies over the coming years to stimulate demand for carriers and push charter rates up from their current low levels, but market analysts remain unconvinced.

Debbie Turner, senior shipping adviser at shipbrokers Simpson Spence Young, said she expects spot charter rates to reach $50,000 per day – above breakeven cost – by the end of the year.
