Speaking at last week’s St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), Gazprom Chairman Alexei Miller said 2016 would be a record year for Russian gas supplies to Europe. Volumes will exceed 2015 levels, he predicted, and the share of Russian gas in European consumption will grow as European domestic production declines.

Meanwhile, Gazprom’s Deputy Chief Executive Alexander Medvedev predicted Europe would need as much as 100 billion cubic metres of additional gas per year by 2030-2035, and he noted there is currently no capacity to transport this gas.
