Indonesia aims to have nine FSRUs operating by 2020, up from its current two, as it seeks to meet rising demand for gas and to backfill falling piped supplies with LNG, the country’s energy ministry has reported.

The FSRUs will mostly be tied to new greenfield power generation. President Joko Widodo’s government, which came to power in late 2014, committed to build 35 GW of new electricity generation by 2019, with gas-fired power making up more than 30% of the proposed capacity mix.
