MEPs support solidarity law, but questions remain

A proposed EU law that would oblige member states to share gas during crisis situations appears to have broad support among MEPs, although some are concerned it does not go far enough in establishing a framework for compensation.

MEPs in the European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) said in a debate this week that the financial burden must be fairly distributed and that the new legislation should include a compensation system for countries fulfilling the supply obligation.
