Iran intends to increase the size of its underground gas storage (UGS) capacity by expanding its two main facilities and developing several new projects, a move Tehran says will boost the country’s export potential.

"I think we need more storage capacity," said Ali Amirani, director of marketing, sales and economic research at National Iranian Gas Exports Co. "If we reach this goal we can use this capacity to increase the amount we export," he added.
