As India seeks to diversify away from Middle Eastern gas suppliers, African nations will have a significant role to play in meeting the country’s demand.

Trade between Africa and India is already on the rise: gas shipments to India accounted for 8% of African LNG exports in 2015, up from 4% in 2013, according to figures from IHS. Nigeria is India’s third-largest supplier of LNG, after Qatar and Australia, but the 2.2 mtpa it sent in 2013 formed just 3.8% of India’s total LNG imports.
