With the EU already beset by a number of crises, the Nord Stream pipeline expansion is expected to be a hot topic at a summit of member state leaders later this week, after Central European countries co-signed a letter seeking solidarity from their western counterparts.
Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko is expected to be in Brussels on Wednesday for a mini-summit on the eve of the full leaders’ meeting. Discussion of Nord Stream’s expansion is on the agenda.
