
The economics of Inpex’s small Abadi FLNG project in Indonesia are looking even less appealing after the drop in oil prices, and now the project operators face a choice between expanding or delaying the development.
The project’s modest first phase – a floating vessel that can produce 2.5 mpta of LNG and 8,400 barrels of condensate per day – has long been considered too small for the Masela Block, which holds gas reserves of 18.5 trillion cubic feet (524 billion cubic metres).
