ExxonMobil has shelved plans to build an LNG terminal in Australia’s southeastern state of Victoria as it prioritises investment in large-scale LNG export projects elsewhere in the world.

The United States major’s exit from the LNG import race in eastern Australia will be a significant boost to AGL’s competing import project in Victoria, which is looking to bring in gas to supply its own power stations and gas customers in a market where prices continue to track higher.
