Total’s Papua LNG project secured government support on 16 October when Papua New Guinea’s parliament finally passed 10 bills relating to taxes, tariffs, insurance and price regulations as part of the Papua LNG gas agreement.

Speaking at its Q3 results this week, Oil Search’s outgoing managing director, Peter Botten, called the parliamentary clearance “a major step forward for the project”.
