Issues with French nuclear reactors in September helped push up power and gas prices at European hubs, with just the concern about potential reductions in electricity supply being enough to have an impact. The reactors under investigation were not shut down and it looks unlikely that temporary closures will be needed. However, the risk of supply issues and the market reaction highlighted how important French electricity supply is to the region.
