A tentative agreement for United States-based Sempra Energy to supply LNG to China Three Gorges (CTG) could mark an early move by the state-owned Chinese power utility to line up LNG supplies for a network of inland terminals it is developing in China.
Sempra said on Monday that its LNG subsidiary had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with CTG for “potential cooperation in supplying LNG to support demand growth in China, including the growth of natural gas power generation”.
