Angola will offer concessions for 10 deepwater blocks covering 5.5 million hectares in its latest licensing round, its first since 2011. The round includes Block 10 in the Benguela Basin and several blocks in the Namibe Basin. Both are frontier areas and relatively unexplored, with Namibe anticipated to be gas-prone.

There is currently no gas pipeline or export infrastructure in the south of Angola, where Namibe is located, while gas demand from the local power sector remains minimal at this time.
