The Switzerland-based Nord Stream 2 holding company brought legal action against the revised EU Gas Directive last month, but a similar case with the World Trade Organization (WTO) suggests getting the directive annulled will be no mean feat.

The decision by the company to take legal action before the EU Court of Justice (ECJ) came almost a year after a WTO panel shot down similar claims raised by Russia.
