Finland has vowed to make climate policy a priority of its presidency of the Council of the EU, and has said it will strive to convince the other EU member states to adopt a target of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 into legislation before its mandate ends in December.
If it succeeds, this could pave the way for the adoption of the European Commission’s proposed target of a 50-55% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 compared with 1990 levels – up from a 40%...
