The key issue: Germany has published the final version of its proposed gas transit tariff reforms, which TSOs in neighbouring countries oppose as they fear an increase in prices at cross-border interconnectors.

Interfax analysis: Germany’s proposed tariff reforms could distort gas trading in Central Europe, reduce gas flows at cross-border interconnectors and strand Austria’s Haidach gas storage facility.

Under the existing framework, each of Germany’s 12 transmission system operators (TSOs) is free to calculate tariffs on a cost-reflective basis, taking into account volumes and capacity at each interconnection point.
