China has some 200 billion cubic metres of synthetic natural gas (SNG) projects in the pipeline, a senior engineer from China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) said on Thursday in Beijing.
Projects to convert coal mined in remote parts of the country to SNG are being planned in areas including the coal-rich autonomous regions of Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia, and the provinces of Shanxi and Gansu, according to Pu Ming, a senior engineer with CNPC’s China Petroleum and Petrochemical Engineering Institute.
