Ghana should decide within a few weeks which of two competing FSRU projects it will use to import LNG to its port at Tema despite an apparent breakdown in communications at the port authority, the acting chief executive of Ghana National Petroleum Corp. (GNPC) has told Interfax Natural Gas Daily.

The first project, proposed by Quantum Power, has been under consideration for over three years. The company signed a heads of terms with GNPC in February to move forward with the project. GNPC is now negotiating with potential LNG providers – including Qatargas, Shell, BP and Woodside.
