
ConocoPhillips has taken a bet on tight gas from the Chilean portion of Tierra del Fuego, the remote archipelago off the southernmost tip of South America.
The supermajor has bought a minority stake in the Coirón Block, which is part of the so-called Zona Glauconitica, an unconventional corridor straddling the Chilean provinces of Magallanes and Tierra del Fuego that forms part of the Magallanes Basin.
