The United States has upped the ante in its strategic rivalry with China, condemning the actions of a Chinese survey ship with armed escorts that has been operating in the South China Sea (SCS) near the Vietnamese coastline for weeks.
In a statement on Monday, the US Department of Defense accused China of resuming “its coercive interference in Vietnam's longstanding oil and gas activities in the South China Sea”. The Pentagon said Beijing’s “bullying tactics” directly contradicted Chinese Minister of Defense
