The UK’s new prime minister, eurosceptic Conservative Boris Johnson, appointed Andrea Leadsom as new secretary of state for business, energy and industrial strategy on Wednesday. She replaces Greg Clark, who had held the post since 2016.

Leadsom previously served in the government of Johnson’s predecessor Theresa May as environment secretary and in the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition government as minister of state for energy at the Department of Energy and Climate Change from 2015 to 2016.
