MEPs in the European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy have given their backing to the revised EU Gas Directive – which will make the Gazprom-led Nord Stream 2 pipeline subject to EU laws. The measure was passed with 33 votes in favour and eight against with four abstentions. It means a plenary vote involving all 751 MEPs in the parliament will take place in Brussels on 4 April in advance of the European elections on 23-26 May.
