Colombia will tap its accessible onshore fields instead of its vast, challenging offshore deposits as a short-term solution to its looming gas deficit. 

A recent dry gas discovery in the country’s hydrocarbon-rich highlands will benefit from its proximity to the main pipeline network – the Transportadora de Gas Internacional (TGI). “If declared commercial, the [Búfalo 1] field could be connected to the TGI, which is close to the discovery,” said a Bogotá-based spokesman for Ecopetrol, which operates the block where the well is...
