Shell has an opportunity to deepen its presence in Argentina’s Vaca Muerta formation following a strategic review of the company’s downstream assets in the Latin American country, an executive has told Interfax Natural Gas Daily.

The company is seeking to boost its presence in the highly prospective shale play in northern Patagonia, said Laurens Gaarenstroom, an unconventionals exploration manager for Shell’s Latin American business. "Our upstream interests and assets in Argentina are out of the scope of the strategic review," he said.
