Gas sees growing popularity in the US power sector

The United States power sector is boosting its use of gas as a result of low gas prices, improved access to gas for power utilities, and the closure of coal-fired plants. Consequently, US power utilities are burning increasing amounts of gas despite the widening gas-coal price differential, and gas is on its way to become the biggest source of power generation in the country in 2016.
