The Indonesian government is drafting a special regulation to attract new oil and gas investment to its prospective deepwater concessions as it aims to boost returns for investors.

Wiratmaja Puja, Indonesia’s director general of oil and gas, has conceded the present regulations do not appeal to investors and that his energy ministry is drafting a new deepwater-specific regulation to make Indonesia more competitive.
