The falling rate of gas production in the Netherlands is expected to gather pace as the pressure on output from the Groningen field increases. Eric Wiebes, the Dutch minister of economic affairs and climate policy, said in a recent interview that the government will look to shut down production from Groningen completely before the current scheduled 2030 deadline if possible.
