Total has concluded its $200 million drilling campaign offshore Uruguay and has yet to announce any significant finds. The French major’s exit from Uruguay – a country with no history of oil or gas production and no proven reserves – would be a major setback for the country’s deepwater ambitions.

A London-based spokesperson for Total told Interfax Natural Gas Daily that the drilling of the Raya 1 ultra-deepwater well was executed successfully, and the drillship has now moved off location.
