Obama holds firm on Clean Power Plan

Republicans in the United States Senate are trying to water down President Barack Obama’s proposed Clean Power Plan (CPP), but with just days to go before the UN COP21 climate conference in Paris, he appears in no mood to compromise.

As Obama pressed for action on climate change issues on his trip to Asia last week, trouble was brewing in Washington over the CPP, which aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from power plants.
