The trade in gas and LNG between the United States and Mexico is likely to remain unaffected by strains in their relations.

United States President Donald Trump is adamant that a border wall will be built between his country and Mexico, which he claims Mexico will pay for. However, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto is vehemently opposed to any financial contribution towards this endeavour. Trump also wants to renegotiate the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) between the US, Mexico and Canada – although it remains unclear which aspects of the agreement he wants to change.
