The International Energy Agency (IEA) has reined in its predictions for fossil fuel growth and suggested renewable technologies could meet a larger share of global energy demand by 2040, according to its World Energy Outlook published on Tuesday.

The outlook comes only a matter of weeks before the UN COP21 climate summit, where world leaders are expected to agree a framework to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and put the world onto a path of limiting the rise in global temperatures to 2C.
