Gas use by the power sector is set to grow in the MEA during summer as the fuel’s popularity increases.

Rising gas demand in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries will support gas-to-power consumption in the MEA. The power sector is the biggest consumer of gas in the GCC, accounting for just over 48% of its demand for the fuel in 2016. GGA forecasts gas consumption by the GCC’s power sector will rise by 2.2% year on year in 2018, to 138 billion cubic metres.
