The use of gas by Egypt’s petrochemicals sector is rebounding thanks to improving domestic gas production.

A gas supply crunch hit Egypt’s petrochemicals industry in 2015 and 2016, forcing some methanol and fertiliser plants to be shuttered. LNG imports had a limited impact in terms of loosening supply to the sector because of the rising demand for gas from power generation, which received priority.
