Bahrain is in discussions with service companies to develop its deep gas reserves after IOCs have shied away from difficult projects in the low global oil price environment.

"We’re talking to IOCs, but also, in the current climate, we are having discussions with service companies – the likes of Schlumberger, Halliburton and Baker Hughes," Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed al-Khalifa, Bahrain’s energy minister, told delegates at the Middle East Petrotech 2016 conference in Bahrain on Monday.
