Russia’s Gazprom Neft has denied it has reached an agreement with the South Sudanese government to take part in exploration in four oil and gas blocks, Reuters has reported.

South Sudan’s petroleum minister, Ezekiel Lul Gatkuoth, had previously said Gazprom’s oil division had signed a memorandum of understanding to proceed with exploration.

Gazprom is understood to be waiting for more information from the ministry before commencing.
