
China’s all-out efforts to avoid another winter gas crunch appear to have paid off so far, with no reports of shortages in Chinese media or on social networks as the country reaches the midpoint of its annual heating season.
Gas supplies have been resilient since the four-month heating season began in northern China on 15 November, despite surging demand and several bouts of freezing weather that included some of Beijing’s coldest days on record last month.
