Growth in the use of gas for power generation in the United Arab Emirates is expected to slow from this year once the country starts up its first 1.4 GW reactor at the new Barakah nuclear plant in Abu Dhabi. However, the reactor’s commercial startup has been delayed as the UAE’s nuclear regulator has yet to approve its operating licence.
