The above-average temperatures forecast for Europe’s largest electricity markets at the start of the winter are expected to curtail growth in seasonal demand for heating in Q4 2018. However, electricity prices are expected to remain supported by the higher oil, gas and carbon prices as well as reduced output from nuclear plants in France and Belgium. This is anticipated to support coal-fired generation during the winter.
