Rising Indian power demand is driving up the country’s generation requirements. India’s power output rose by 8% on an annual basis in September, to 118.8 TWh, supported by strong increases in generation from renewables and large hydropower facilities. Large hydro generation rose by 24% year on year, to 17.4 TWh, while output from wind and solar grew by 56% and 61% respectively, to 6.1 TWh and 3.2 TWh.
